The Creative Development in Concept, Design, Build

Design

We follow several phases of developmental design processes: Understand the general idea as well as any products associated with the concept or project presented, simultaneously, with cliental. Develop direction and comprehensive vision, while creating value through conceptual design.

  1. 1 - Understand: the general idea as well as any products associated with the concept or project presented, simultaneously, with cliental. Develop direction and comprehensive vision, while creating value through conceptual design.
  1. 2 - Basic Concept Designs: Project feasibility, Design Concepts (minimum 2-3), configuration mock-ups of individual production pieces.

Deliverables

  • Conceptual design proposals
  • Basic Concept Designs: minimum 2-3 (concepts per display/unit/idea), applicable to advanced concept models
  • Competitive benchmark study
  • Feasibility study
  • Preliminary cost and schedule estimates
  • Risk identification (along with client)
  1. 3 - Redefined Concept Designs: Exhibits (a.) (b.) (c.) below, simply show variations in redefining particular concepts. Taking from a very simplistic approach, then a raw engineered approach, and finally a single example of a variation in a more detailed approach. Eventually all models are scheduled for detail design processes shown in segment 4.
  1. 3.1 - Redefined Concept Design - Exhibit A.
  1. 3.2 - Redefined Concept Design - Exhibit B.
  1. 3.3 - Redefined Concept Design - Exhibit C.

Deliverables

  • Final Product Specifications
  • Preliminary bill of materials
  • Tentative development costs
  • Gate Review Scheduled
  • Q&A production planning (along with client)
  • Resource assessment and planning (along with client)
  1. 4 - Detail design assembly plans: Detailed design of sub-assemblies, including parts, materials and tolerances, compiled into design documents, design reviews on each design assembly.

Deliverables

  • Detailed drawings of approved designs for production
  • Preliminary technical product documentation
  1. 5 - Advanced Conceptual Modeling: Complete Project feasibility, configuration of approved basic and complex design concepts incorporated into a virtual model, advanced conceptual/graphic models (minimum 1).

Deliverables

  • Conceptual design proposals
  • Approved Individual Concept Designs - applicable to advanced concept models
  • Advanced Conceptual Models (minimum 1 concept)
  • Competitive benchmark study
  • Feasibility study
  • Preliminary cost and schedule estimates
  • Risk identification (along with client)
  1. 6 - WIC Certified Shop Drawing Submittals (if required): WIC Certified Shop Drawings for Submittal - General project information, location, requirements, and specifications.
  1. 7 - Prototype Testing and Refinement (along with client): Reliability-life-performance testing, regulatory approvals, design changes and documentation.

Deliverables

  • Product qualification test results
  • Validation plan with acceptance criteria
  1. 8 - Pre-Production / Production (along with client): Evaluate early pre-production out-put and manage changes, Final design documentation.

Deliverables

  • First revenue-generating product units

Product development process described above is generic. Based on technology, platform and process, we customize our design process to meet the client’s unique requirement of product development.

Process Conclusion

Our creative yet structured process draws on our experience in developing products, design research and multi-disciplinary approach. Design reviews and gate reviews form the core of our design process. Our designers and engineers use a powerful combination of tools and processes to design and develop products.

Design Review

During each phase of the design process, a review is conducted involving the product team and selected experts, consultants and managers. We take a hard critical look at the current design to determine how to make the design better from the user, process, manufacturing, cost point of view. Review guidelines are made and maintained in a dynamic form so as to learn and apply them to every design.

Gate Review

Between each of the phases is a client’s assessment event, where the project is evaluated against specific criteria to determine if the project should proceed or simply be reworked.
This gives us a framework for managing our projects and sets up the timing for the gates to provide structure to projects. It is therefore necessary to define points in the project timeline where the clients team engages with our project team to assess risk against both internal and external criteria and make a decision to:

  • proceed for further phases
  • request additional work in the current phase
  • place the project on hold
  • cancel the project

Interior Branding Solutions

Highlight: Offering corporations a visual identity that supports a marketing philosophy from office to point of purchase - resulting in clear messaging to visitors, staff members, and consumers.
Outcome: Differentiating entities from competitors as a coherent profile in the market place.
Office effect: repositioning of existing company environments while providing visual impact enabling companies to benefit from a higher profile within the marketplace.
